Signs To Get a New Carpet

Signs That a New Carpet Would Be a Great Idea

If you’re unsure of whether it’s the right time to replace your carpet or not, here are some signs that replacing it would be a smart idea.

Are you considering getting a new carpet? Flooring is one of the most necessary parts of your house, and it can be what makes or breaks a sale when you go to sell your house one day. You don’t want people to walk into your building and see an old damaged carpet. That’s why it might be best to get it replaced. If you’re unsure of whether it’s the right time to replace your carpet or not, here are some signs that replacing it would be a smart idea.

Your Carpet Has Mold and Water Damage

Water damage and mold are some of the most obvious indicators that you will need a new carpet. Not only are water stains an eyesore, but they are also difficult to remove. A common cause for water damage is leaking pipes, often found in either the kitchen or bathroom. Keep an eye on your pipes and check for leaks so that they can’t harm your carpet in time.

Mold is an even more serious problem. It’s especially dangerous when people have asthma and mold allergies. Mold comes in the form of black, white, and green stains. These stains will grow over time and often come with a repugnant odor. Mold testing kits are available that can help you determine if your carpet has mold.

Your Carpet Has Wear and Tear

Wear and tear on your carpet makes any room look unattractive. It usually takes between 3 and 5 years for carpet fibers to become frayed, so if you see that it is looking a little beaten up, it might be time to consider getting a new one. Areas with a lot of foot traffic often cause carpets to suffer wear and tear more rapidly, including hallways and stairs.

Stains

While stains can sometimes be cleaned, there are other stains that are too strong to handle. If you think your carpet cannot be saved, a fresh new carpet may be the way to go. Stains can lower the value of your home due to them being unsightly. This means that, while it costs money to install new carpeting, you’ll make returns on your investment when you plan to sell your home later.
