The TSS 2021 Gala & Auction in November was certainly one to remember. Our gala committee, led by chair Theresa LaViola, pivoted once again this year and threw a magical indoor/outdoor event that, according to all who attended, was an unqualified success.

We are so grateful for the role you played in making that happen. The gala auction has a reputation for unique items and lively bidding and your donation, a $350 gift certificate and copies of Stuffing Cotton, was the perfect addition to the fun. Thank you also for your $250 gala sponsorship!

I hope you take pride in knowing that the proceeds from your donation truly end up in the hands and hearts of children. Whether books, playground toys, smart and caring teachers, art supplies, or science equipment, a successful event means all the myriad elements of a TSS education remain available to our kids.

Our school family is so strong, and that sense of committed community was evident on November 12. Thank you for supporting The Salisbury School and for helping continue the proud tradition of exceptional education on the Eastern Shore.

Mr. Mike Strobel,

The 9400 condominium association wants to acknowledge the excellent job that Mike’s Carpet Connection did on our carpeting and lobby tiling project this winter. We want to thank you for your professionalism and cooperation with the 9400 Board and our management staff.

Our building appearance has been significantly upgraded. Much credit goes to Mike’s Carpet Connection and your team members for their cooperation and ongoing communications efforts throughout the project. It was a major effort to complete 20 floors in the timeframe we had.

Your project supervisor Ryan Wood consistently delivered professional workmanship and full cooperation with us in a very timely manner. We greatly appreciate the way he worked with Ken Mullinix, our Maintenance Manager, on a daily basis. Your carpet foreman, Russ Law was also professional and cooperative.

From the beginning of this project, your company delivered an organized and excellent plan of execution. And you kept us fully apprised of any changes throughout the project. This was extremely critical as all of our owners wanted to know the status of the job as we went through the process. Russ and Ryan are excellent communicators and both are very good at following through on the detail involved in such a project.

At the conclusion of the project when we did our final walkthrough with you, Russ and Ryan, your team was very willing to make final adjustments and minor fixes as requested by us at 9400.

In summary, we want to thank Mike’s Carpet Connection and particularly Ryan for the excellent performance. Your company delivers well organized, quality products and workmanship. We want to thank you again and we will highly recommend your company and staff for carpet and tile work in the greater Ocean City Maryland area.

During the recent tropical storm, Isaisa, we had luxury vinyl plank installed from Mike’s, throughout most of our home. The 4 man crew showed up early, in the middle of a tornado warning, and worked steadily, even with a 30 min. power outage. They were finished by early afternoon. The men were professional, respectful, efficient and expert at their jobs. We can’t say enough about them.

Kenny was a great help with the initial process and Dennis answered more questions we had when setting up the scheduling.

The flooring looks wonderful and we had a great experience working with everyone involved.

I am writing to express my total agreement with your Editorial in last week’s Coastal Point wherein you noted the importance of supporting small businesses. Supporting local businesses is good for our local economy and a smart way for us to purchase products and services.

I would also like to point out that supporting local businesses is quite often even best for us as consumers. I’d like to give an example of a wonderful experience we recently had when purchasing carpet at Mike’s Carpet Connection in Fenwick Island. We purchased carpet after shopping for estimates. Box stores were within $100 of Mike’s price but we decided to buy from Mike, a local small business.

Through no fault of Mike’s there were serious problems with the carpet that was purchased from a leading carpet manufacturer, twice! I do not want to get into specifics but suffice it to say Mike personally went way above and beyond basic customer service to ensure our satisfaction. And we have been satisfied! We believe that had we purchased the carpet from a box store and experienced any problem we would not have the good ending we experienced.

I also noticed in last week’s Coastal Point that Mike’s Carpet Connection has a new name, Mike’s Flooring and Design. We wish Mike success with this endeavor and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy business to support.

Buying from local small businesses is smart in many ways!
