Pro: Comfortable and Stylish
High-pile carpets are incredibly warm and soft, perfect for the chilling winter weather we are currently experiencing. You also don’t have to sacrifice looks to get a comfortable carpet because high-pile carpets are quite stylish, and they can be made to match the look of whatever room in which they may be used.
Con: Need to Keep Allergies in Mind
High-pile carpets offer a lot of absorbency, and this, unfortunately, means that allergens have an easier time getting inside of them. That’s why low-pile carpets are often a safer bet if there are people in your household who have allergies. On the other hand, allergens enter your home no matter what. With that said, trapping allergens in your carpet can be a good thing as long as weekly maintenance (vacuuming) and periodically “steam cleaning”of your carpet occurs removing the allergens. New technology within certain carpet manufactures includes products like “Microban”. Because of the thickness of high-pile carpets, they help insulate rooms and make them warmer during the winter. On top of that, you can filter out unwanted sound, which allows your home to be more peaceful. The thickness of these carpets can also be good for safety because children aren’t nearly as likely to hurt themselves if they were to slip and fall onto your carpet.
