Luxury Vinyl Tile Vs. Hardwood Flooring

Comparing Luxury Vinyl Tile With Hardwood Flooring

We’ll be comparing luxury vinyl tile and hardwood flooring to help you decide which is best for you and your home.

Hardwood flooring has existed for a long time and has been known as the standard when it comes to flooring material. But now, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is making a name for itself, and more people are starting to use it in their homes. So what makes luxury vinyl tile different from hardwood flooring? We’ll be comparing luxury vinyl tile and hardwood flooring to help you decide which is best for you and your home.

Look & Style of Luxury Vinyl Tile and Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood floors are a timeless classic. They are beautiful and come in a variety of designs. These styles, however, tend to be more expensive on average when compared to their LVT counterparts.

Luxury vinyl tile, in contrast, can be installed more cheaply, all while retaining the beauty that hardwood flooring is known to provide. It’s not even just looks that can be replicated. You also get the same feel as a hardwood floor.

Durability & Stability

Hardwood floors tend to have concerns in this department. You have to constantly maintain hardwood flooring to keep it in good shape. Wood is vulnerable to moisture, which would cause it to warp and rot. This means it can’t be used in rooms such as the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room. You’ll likely need to apply a protective coating to your floor to keep it from getting damaged too easily.

Luxury vinyl tile, as a synthetic option, is more resilient against moisture. This means you can use it in any room of your house without worrying about it getting damaged. As a result, luxury vinyl tile is a more flexible flooring choice.

How Luxury Vinyl Tile and Hardwood Floors Affect the Environment

While it’s easy to believe that hardwood flooring is more environmentally friendly because it’s a natural material, this isn’t actually true. Even though trees can be renewable, they aren’t grown as quickly as they are taken down.

Luxury vinyl tile is made from recycled materials, being made from PVC that is mainly made up of salt, which is in abundance. This means that LVT is more friendly to the planet, even though it is a synthetic flooring option.
