Luxury Vinyl Tile Installation Errors

How Luxury Vinyl Tile Can Be Installed Improperly

Here are some of the ways luxury vinyl tile might get improperly installed.

In recent years, one of the most popular types of flooring people have adopted for their homes and businesses is luxury vinyl tile (LVT). The sturdiness, appearance, and composition of LVT allows it to work optimally for both residential and commercial properties. With the sudden surge in popularity LVT has gotten, more and more people have wanted to get some installed in their buildings. When installed in the right manner, it can be a wonderful flooring type to have, but there are ways the installation could go wrong if you’re not careful. Here are some of the ways luxury vinyl tile might get improperly installed.

Not Aligning the Tiles Properly

This problem is more commonplace with older houses. When houses settle, they make subtle motions, but they can result in having corners that don’t come to a precise 90-degree angle. This may seem no worse than a tiny inconvenience, but there is a ripple effect that comes into play.

If corners aren’t a perfect 90 degrees, not all of the tiles will be aligned with the wall as they should be. Unfortunately, some people don’t realize this problem until after the luxury vinyl tile has already been installed. Consider bringing this up with your flooring contractor and see if they have a fix for the issue before the installation begins.

Uneven Base for Your Luxury Vinyl Tile

A great base is the foundation of beautiful luxury vinyl tile. You really don’t want to run into problems with uneven bases, and it’s something that’s more likely to happen when transitioning between rooms. When floor tiles are at varying heights, it makes your interior look less neat and tidy, which doesn’t make for a great appearance. Make sure you and your flooring contractor confirm that your base is ready to go before you start installing your luxury vinyl tile.

Not Using the Right Amount of Adhesive For Your Luxury Vinyl Tile

Sometimes, knowing where to apply adhesive can be tricky, and the same can be said for how much you should use. An excess of adhesive means some could get between the cracks in the tiles. Use too little, however, and your floor could have ridges in it. Consult with your flooring manufacturer to find out the appropriate amount of adhesive to use for your floor.
