Fortunately, there are ways for you to clean your floor so that it looks amazing again. Today, we’ll go over a few cleaning methods you can use to clean luxury vinyl tile that has lost its color. Before you try any of these methods, we advise that you test them in inconspicuous spots around your house first, just to make sure you get the result you want before cleaning the spots you’re actually trying to clean.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is an ideal choice for cleaning luxury vinyl tile, and what’s even better is that it’s often lying around the house. When using baking soda to clean your floor, you should follow these steps.
First, you should create a thick paste by mixing the baking soda with some water. Then, use the new paste by applying it to the stains of your floor with a soft cloth. Be sure to rub the floor gently because baking soda is an abrasive substance, meaning it can damage your floor if you rub too hard. Lastly, using a new clean cloth, wipe away whatever residue is left over.
Lemon
Do you have some old lemons lying around the house? If you do, you might want to hang on to them for just a little bit longer because they are useful for combating discoloration with your luxury vinyl tile. Here are the steps to follow if you use lemons to clean your tile.
First, use a damp and clean cloth to get rid of as much staining/discoloration as you can. Then, slice your lemon into halves, and rub one of the halves on your stain. If one half doesn’t do it, you can use the other half afterward. After that, wipe the whole area down with the help of a damp cloth. Do this until all of the lemon residue is gone. Lastly, use a dry cloth to finish the job until the area is completely dry.
Dish Soap
Combining dish soap with water can be another effective method for helping discolored luxury vinyl tile. If you need a deeper cleaning, you should take this approach:
- Take one gallon of warm water and add a cup’s worth of apple cider.
- Put in a tablespoon’s worth of dish soap.
- When mopping your tile, go with a mop that has nylon scrub bristles because those bristles are able to clean more thoroughly.
- Dry off your floor when you’re done.
