Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is a wonderful kind of flooring you can use, and it’s highly affordable. It’s also revered for its high durability, but even LVT isn’t invincible. There are ways that LVT can get damaged, causing dents and stains to form. What can you do whenever these kinds of damage occur? Find out what you can do to address stains and dents that are causing problems for your luxury vinyl tile. Please note that the following approaches should first be applied to inconspicuous spots on your floor, just to ensure they give you the result you want before trying them on the rest of your floors.
Prevention Methods
To deal with damage to your luxury vinyl tile, start at the source and prevent problems from ever developing. To start, try to keep furniture off the ground whenever you need to move it, then delicately place it wherever you want it. Furniture sliders and wheels can be helpful to make the moving process easier. When pieces of furniture, such as chairs and tables, are not in motion, chair and table protectors can be used to keep scratches from appearing on your floors. In addition, consider adding a cup-like product on the legs of your chairs and tables because it will help to distribute weight more evenly across your luxury vinyl tile.
Also, consider using area rugs and doormats to minimize the dirt that gets inside the house. Invest in a high-quality, heavy-duty option for maximum effectiveness.
Lastly, keep your floor clean so that dirt and debris won’t have a chance to accumulate and cause problems over time.
Removing Dents From Luxury Vinyl Tile
If you end up with dents, there are ways to remedy the situation. Cleaning your floor is a great place to start so dirt doesn’t spread and scratch your floor. After that, you should take a clothing iron and heat it up so that it’s set to the cotton setting.
Then, place a damp towel over wherever the dent is found, then hover the heated iron over the towel. The iron should NOT be placed on top of the towel. Once you have the iron over the towel, keep hovering over the towel for about two or three minutes.
Handling Stains on Your Luxury Vinyl Tile
If you have sticky substances on your floor, a putty knife can be used to extract them. You should be gentle and don’t rush this process because you could scratch your floor otherwise.
For spills, like pasta sauce, you’ll want to create a mixture made of water and baking soda. Apply this solution to a soft rag, then rub the stain gently to get it off of your luxury vinyl tile.
